Studies have shown that the following changes in life can result in an increase in life expectancy. Now these are averages of course done thru studies and aren’t saying that if you are vegetarian and exercise regularly that you’re going to live for 3.9 years exactly longer. If you were to compare a group of people who does these things to a group of people who doesn’t however the difference in their lifespans would be around these numbers, and they are cumulative and something we have total control over!
it increases the length of “good living” towards the end of our lives. In the later years of our lives most people will experience a big medical event. Something like cancer or a broken hip or stroke and our ability to function physically is decreased leaving us with a poorer quality of life until we finally die. Now people who eat right and exercise regularly still have these significant medical events in the twilight years of life, but they tend to be delayed by 7 to 13 years and the time between this event and when they actually die is shortened. So basically not only will you live longer by taking care of yourself but the length of time you have quality life will increase as well and the amount of time you’ll be in poor health at the end of your life will decrease. I don’t know about you but if I have to go I’d rather it was pretty quick in the end and not after years of dealing with a debilitating illness.
A bit of fact and a bit of opinion here. I used to be overweight, then I dieted down and ended up underweight. In the past two years I’ve finally gotten a handle of my health however and I’m doing great. Awsome blood pressure, BMI in the right range, I eat good, work out often and I feel amazing.
Studies have been done that show a correlation between the way we treat ourselves and how long we live. Common sense right? Then why do so many of us still insist upon killing ourselves everyday instead of buckling down a little and doing what’s right. It’s really not that hard, I never thought I’d be a 6 days a week at the gym and salads for lunch everyday kind of person but once you get yourself doing it you miss it when you can’t do it. It has made a difference in more then just the way I look and feel physically, it has made me a happier person personally as well, I am far more confident and capable of dealing with life in general I think.
Now there are a ton of diets online you can find but I think most everyone knows what’s good and what’s bad. Give it a couple weeks and you’ll be amazed at what it does for you and how good you really feel. Try going for a walk everyday at lunch, use some olive oil and vinegar instead of salad dressing at lunch (because if you’re going to load up your salad with ranch dressing you might as well go enjoy that burger instead. quit trying to fool yourself). Smoking is the last part of the food exercise equation and to me was the hardest, do what you have to tho because even tho it’s the hardest it’s also the most damaging.
There are more sources then you can imagine out there for information on what foods are good for you, to give you simple exercise routines to start out with and to help quit smoking take advantage of this great resource we have in the internet and get yourself on the fast track to living longer and being happier doing it!
