Pledge of Allegiance at all? If I live in Texas, why is it that I pledge to protect people on my side of the border, but not those on the other side, in Mexico? Isn’t it odd, if you think about it? There is nothing wrong with being proud of your country, but has anyone ever thought ‘what if they hadn’t made the Lousiana Purchase?’ The people we now call ‘fellow Americans’ would be in some other nations, and if there was a school shooting in that nation, it probably wouldn’t be on the news here in the US. Yet just because the border got placed where it is, people inside it are considered ‘worth fighting for’. Meanwhile people outside our border are not. Think we are in Iraq to help people? Go do some research on Zimbabwe or Darfur, and ask why we didn’t invade those countries to ’spread democracy’. (Actually Bush did become interested in Darfur - after a 600+ million oil deposit was found there…)

Korea started a nuclear program, and now is abandoning it. We paid them to stop, in money and future oil shipments. For some reason though, we don’t talk to Iran. Interesting. Korea isn’t one of the largest oil reserve countries in the world though, is it.

I say we should “Pledge Allegiance to no Flag, but to the United Countries of The Whole World, and to the Earth on which we stand, one Race, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

Not that being proud of your country is really bad, it’s no different than being proud of your family tree, or proud of your school, or of your sports team - but lets remember that ultimately we should only Pledge to better the entire Human race, and remember that the ‘group’ that matters most is the Planet Earth group.

Here is the moveon.org advertisement that is sparking all the controversy.

Only 25 Senators voted against this, I need to find their names, and write them down as rational human beings.

Since when does the Senate has time to worry about an ADVERTISEMENT in a newspaper? What the hell is going on? Figure out how to get us our of Iraq and get health care to every US citizen you fools!
