The high cost of war.

Shane March 26th, 2008

A lot of people like myself blog or forum or talk about how Bush mislead the country to war, but even those of us knee deep in the political muck forget (sometimes) the real tragedy of it all.

When someone still thinks Iraq was not about the oil, tell them about the Iraqi Oil Law.

When someone still thinks that Saddam was involved in 9/11, tell them he most definitely did not.

And if someone still thinks that the cost of Iraq is measured in dollars, show them this:

Hear ye! Hear ye! Carbon Trading will now commence!

Air Pollution Carbon CreditsDid you hear? “A new business is opening Monday in New York: a carbon trading exchange.”

Businesses will have to buy the right to pollute. People can trade Carbon futures.

“The Halo Effect” Don’t trust your own mind.

Shane March 22nd, 2008

Southpark HaloThe Halo Effect is when people make assumptions about one person because of one specific trait. The linked article is very eye opening, I suggest reading the full story. If you are pressed for time, read my Quick And Dirty™ summary:

If you see a person that is attractive and friendly, you assume they are trustworthy, have good judgment, are smart, etc. Celebrities are the most powerful example of this effect. We all assume, until given a lot of evidence proving otherwise, that celebrities are nice, honest people.

Please give me constructive criticism on my writing.

In the last year I had 68,000 visitors.

I had 19,000 yesterday, with one post “What If I told you that 10 months before 9/11 Saddam…” that was voted to number 8 on reddit.com.

Unfortunately few of those people will probably read this post, but maybe a few will come back.

To anyone who reads this, I would appreciate any constructive criticism on my writing. I have had a few people on reddit.com (people are more honest when they are not commenting directly on your blog) knock my writing, but they never explain why. Too sarcastic? Too opinionated?

I would rather take some criticism if it can help my writing than continue to spend time on this blog and not realize there are things I do that irritate people etc.

What if I told you that 10 months before 9/11, Saddam Hussein did something very big, and pissed off the US Administration?

In November of 2000, Hussein switched to selling oil in Euros, when normally all OPEC nations sell their oil in US Dollars. Why?

As Ron Paul explains the US added a secret agreement to the overall OPEC Agreement where OPEC nations promised to sell oil in US dollars, and no other currency. This effectively backs the US dollar in oil, and all countries need US dollars in their reserves. This article explains why.

This is why some people call our currency The Petrodollar.
